This Cheeseburger French Fry Casserole is a deliciously comforting dish that combines seasoned ground beef, crispy frozen French fries, and melted cheddar cheese baked to perfection. Enhanced with classic cheeseburger flavors like ketchup, mustard, pickles, and onions, it makes a hearty and satisfying meal perfect for family dinners or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Meat Mixture

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ cup diced onions (optional)
  • ½ cup pickles diced (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder (optional)

Other Ingredients

  • 1 package (about 20 oz) frozen French fries (crinkle-cut or regular)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese or American cheese
  • ½ cup milk
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ground Beef: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder if using. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, about 6-7 minutes. Drain any excess grease.
  2. Add Condiments: Stir ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise into the cooked beef until well combined. If using diced onions or pickles, fold them into the mixture. Set aside.
  3. Layer the Casserole: Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Spread the frozen French fries evenly over the bottom. Pour the beef mixture over the fries and spread evenly.
  4. Top with Cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheddar or American cheese generously over the beef and fries to cover the dish completely.
  5. Bake the Casserole: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and the fries are crispy.
  6. Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Serve immediately, optionally with additional ketchup or mustard on the side.

Notes

  • Use crinkle-cut fries for extra crispiness or regular fries based on preference.
  • Mayonnaise adds creaminess, but you can substitute with sour cream if preferred.
  • For a more classic cheeseburger taste, use American cheese instead of cheddar.
  • Adding diced onions and pickles brings authentic cheeseburger flavors to the casserole.
  • Letting the casserole rest for a few minutes before serving helps flavors meld and eases serving.
